2.2. Menu

This section describes the function of each menu item. Many menu items are shown with a keyboard shortcut. When such a shortcut is available, you may use the keyboard combination instead of choosing it in the menu.

File menu

CTRL+N New

Clears display and resets all results and reports.

CTRL+R Copy Report

Save the Lab Report to a file on disk.

CTRL+S Save Report

Copies the Lab Report to the clipboard.

CTRL+P Print Report

Print the Lab Report with the complete list of all calculations and recipe for preparation of the desired solution.

Exit

Close Solution Calculator.

 

Edit menu

CTRL+Z Undo

Reverses the last command or deletes the last entry you typed.

CTRL+X Cut

Copies the selected text to the clipboard or, if nothing is selected, copies the whole expression in the input line, and then clears it from the input line.

CTRL+C Copy

Copies the selected text to the clipboard for pasting into other applications.

CTRL+V Paste

Copies the text from the clipboard and places it in the input line.

DEL Delete

Deletes the selected text or, if nothing is selected clears one character from the left.

CTRL+A Select All

Solution Calculator selects the whole expression in the input line.

CTRL+Y Enclose Expression

Encloses the selected text in parenthesess, if nothing is selected the whole expression will be enclosed in parentheses.

ESC Clear Input Line

Clears the input line.

F8 Abbreviations...

The Abbreviations menu allows you to input abbreviations of chemical compounds, ions formulas or molecular fragments, for example BSA, EDTA, EtOH, Cu2+. field. A list of abbreviations of chemicals with corresponding names and molecular masses (which the Journal of Organic Chemistry (JOC) allows to be published without further explanation) can be found on the Abbreviations and acronyms of chemical compounds page.

The insert menu contains list of most common molecular fragments.

View menu

F8 View/Change MW...

This is one of the ways you can see (and change) the molecular weight (mass) the program calculated from your chemical formula.

F9 Show Database...

Open the database of common compounds.

F10 Show Lab Report...

View the complete list of all calculations that were done and recipes for preparation of the desired solution

F11 Always on Top

Including this option will make the Solution Calculator visible even when it is not active.

The Online Help for Solution Calculator provides a detailed help files with syntax, usage, and examples for all of the supported functions.

F1 About SolCalc

Displays a dialog in which some information about the current version of Solution Calculator can be found.
