CODAGE UNICODE UTF-8
La norme Unicode assigne un point de code (nombre) à chaque caractère de chaque langues pris en charge. UTF-8 permet un codage sur des données de 8 bits et fonctionne bien avec de nombreux systèmes d'exploitation.
Les références de caractères numériques spécifient la position du code d'un caractère dans le jeu de caractères du document. Les références de caractères numériques peuvent prendre deux formes:
- la syntaxe "&#D;", dans laquelle D représente un nombre décimal
- la syntaxe "&#xH;" ou "&#XH;", dans laquelle H représente un nombre hexadécimal (Les nombres hexadécimaux dans les références de caractères numériques sont insensibles à la casse.)
Pour la plage de caractères ASCII, UTF-8 est identique au codage ASCII et permet un jeu de caractères plus étendu. Toutefois, pour les scripts français et grec, UTF-8 peut nécessiter deux octets pour chaque caractère.
