The main window consists of three parts: the clasic, simple (predefined) Unit converter at the top, the Complex converter (where you can create your own custom units) in the middle, and at the bottom you can express integral number in different numeral systems.
Simple units converter can convert 479 different units of measurement across 23 categories.
In the top combo box you can select all units of a certain category. The bottom combo box will display only the units that have the same dimension as the unit selected in the top combo box.
How to use Simple units converter? Choose the unit category. Select the unit to convert from in the input units list. Select the unit you want to convert it to in the output units list. Enter the value you wish to convert into the input box on the left. Conversions are done in real time as you type in your values.
Complex units converter can help you solve almost every conversion problem problem that you have. The only requirement is that the symbol of a unit is defined in the database of symbols and abbreviations.
Numerator and denominator of compound units must be entered in separate fields. Subunits in the numerator area (denominator) are separated form each other by space or by the multiply sign (*). Subunits can be valid symbols of units or abbreviations. They may include a prefix and an exponent (positive or negative). It is possible to define virtually any combination of units, prefixes, and powers. The prefix should appear before the unit, without spaces. Compound prefixes are not allowed, and a prefix should never be used alone. The exponent should appear after the unit, without spaces.
Note that the SI unit kilogram is actually implemented as gram. Also note that "micro" (μ) can be typed as an "u".
Click the SI button to reduce compound units into primitive units using only seven base SI units.
The third part of the UN Converter can convert numbers writen in one numeral system into another (e.g. from binary into hexadecimal or Roman numeral system).
