Calculator for Chemists is a free scientific expression calculator which supports many scientific functions, like logarithms and exponents, trigonometric and hyperbolic functions, normal and inverse. Complete expressions can be typed just as if you were using a regular text editor. Simply type what you want to calculate, press Enter and get your answer.
One of primary function of the Calculator for Chemists is the fast calculation of molecular weight of compounds by simple entry of their chemical formula. The program translates the texts with chemical element symbols or without them into a mathematical expression and calculates them. There is an intelligent routine that translates the symbols of elements written in small letters into correct chemical formula. The result of the translation will be entered into the entry field and calculated, or the program will report an error. The appearance of the mathematical expression, which is the result of the translation, can be seen if the mouse pointer is held over the tasks field.
For example, when calculating the relative molecular weight of a sodium-sulfate you would type na2so4 and the smart translator will analyze and translate the lower case typed chemical formula in to the correct form and calculate it.
na2so4 = Na2SO4 Na2SO4 = Na*2+S+O*4 Na*2+S+O*4 = 22.98976928*2 + 32.065 + 15.9994*4 22.98976928*2 + 32.065 + 15.9994*4 = 142.04213856
The Calculator for Chemists contains a list with task history, storing all the recent inputs and results. All of the calculations can be saved and recalled again. The calculator also provides a list of common physical constants. The calculator keypad can remain hidden or it can be shown if you prefer to click buttons with the mouse instead of typing.
The Calculator for Chemists is fully portable, so you can take it with you wherever you go on a USB device or CD/DVD media. If you change the default configuration of the Calculator you must copy the c4c.cfg configuration file to the same folder where the executable file is. If you need to set the application back to the original default settings, delete the c4c.cfg file.
System requirements: 32-bit or 64-bit PC with Windows operating system.
